UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital (Longmont, Colo.) marked progress on a multiphase expansion with the first official landing of a medical helicopter on a newly constructed rooftop helipad in Longmont, according to hconews.com.

The landing signals the opening of several newly completed components of the expansion project, including expanded emergency services and additional birth center capacity. The latest phase includes the opening of two new operating rooms (ORs), nine pre- and post-anesthesia care unit bays, three labor and delivery rooms, and one caesarean-section (C-section) room.

The hospital also unveiled an expanded emergency department (ED) with seven new exam rooms and three fast-track rooms, as well as a new sterile processing department and infilled courtyard housing a new kitchen and dining room.

The project, which broke ground in 2023, will add 89,000 square feet to the hospital’s campus, including 35 total new patient beds, including additional progressive care and acute care beds scheduled to open in 2026.
