University Hospitals (UH) Ahuja Medical Center in Beachwood, Ohio, is celebrating its Phase 2 expansion project with a groundbreaking ceremony.

The project will include a 216,000-square-foot, three-story hospital pavilion addition; a 78,000-square-foot sports medicine complex with sports performance center, outpatient rehabilitation, walk-in clinic, and imaging; a women and newborn center housing maternal-fetal health services, labor and delivery, and a neonatal intensive care unit; a new breast health center; a men’s health center; an expanded emergency department with a Level II trauma center; a 23-bed short-stay unit; and eight new operating rooms with surgical, endoscopic, imaging, and dialytic services.

The project team comprises HKS Inc. (architect; Dallas); Sodexo Construction Management (construction; Beachwood), and Gilbane Building Company (construction; Cleveland).

The $236.1 million project is slated to open in 2023.
