The University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital is planning $580 million in infrastructure upgrades to support future expansion of its campus in Lexington, Ky., according to a news release.
The project comprises a new central utility plant and distribution system as well as backup generators to improve reliability. Energy-efficient updates to existing heating and cooling infrastructure are also planned.
The upgrades are expected to support a $2.4 billion hospital expansion, announced in 2023, which includes a new 300-bed patient tower, according to the Lexington Herald Leader.
