University of New Mexico Hospital Opens New Critical Care Tower In Albuquerque

The 9-story tower houses 96 ICU beds, a new surgical suite with 18 ORs, 73 PACU rooms, six interventional radiology suites, and four catheterization labs.

University of New Mexico Hospital (UNM Hospital; Albuquerque, N.M.) has opened its new Critical Care Tower in Albuquerque, according to a news release.

Consolidating all adult critical care services in one building, the new 9-story tower houses 192 total beds in 684,000 square feet, according to a hospital fact sheet.

Facilities include a 96-bed intensive care unit (ICU), expanded adult emergency department (ED), new surgical suite with 18 operating rooms (ORs), 73 post-anesthesia care rooms (PACUs), six interventional radiology suites, and four catheterization labs. The project also includes a new helipad and expanded ambulance bay with access to the expanded ED.
