Vanderbilt University Medical Center (Nashville) is set to open its new Jim Ayers Tower, a 15-story, 470,000-square-foot expansion, this fall, according to The Tennessean.

The $500 million project marks the hospital’s largest-ever expansion. Initially, the tower will open with 180 inpatient beds, as well as five floors of shell space to add additional beds in the future, according to news.vumc.org.

The new tower will also house radiology services, a spacious lobby, and a 3-story parking garage with 600 spaces. A new two-story bridge will connect the tower to The Vanderbilt Clinic, a hospital-based clinic providing outpatient care, on the third and fourth levels.
