Wooster Community Hospital in Wooster, Ohio, is nearing completion of a $34 million expansion of its emergency department (ED), according to The (Wooster) Daily Record.
The Emergency Room and Patient Access Center project will expand treatment spaces and add negative air pressure rooms, as well as separate entrances for patients transported by emergency medical services (EMS) and walk-in patients to help ease congestion.
The new ED will also include a behavioral health area, a 23-hour observation unit, and dedicated transport corridors that connect directly to the hospital’s inpatient tower and surgical suites.
