Opened in December 2024, the Endeavor Health Cardiovascular Institute on the Edward Hospital campus in Naperville, Ill., is designed to establish a single, cohesive patient experience for three separate tenants—the Midwest Cardiovascular Institute, Cardiac Surgery Associates, and Endeavor Health Cardiac Rehab.
The 3-story, 71,600-square-foot project comprises a cardiovascular medical office building and ambulatory surgery center, which includes two catheterization labs, prep/recovery rooms, comprehensive diagnostic imaging (PET/CT, CT, nuclear medicine and stress testing), and a cardiac rehabilitation gym.
Unified, nature-inspired design for multiple tenants
To deliver a unified design language for the tenants, the project team, including Ryan A+E (Chicago), which served as architect and interior designer on the project, focused on sophisticated and nature-inspired aesthetic.
Upon entering, patients are greeted by a 2-story lobby that features a 24-foot illuminated glass art piece inspired by an on-campus oak tree, while a custom light fixture above is designed to suggest an abstract tree canopy.
Nature-based themes continue throughout the building to aid in wayfinding and create a calming environment. For example, elevator bays feature large, regionally specific wall graphics, and individual tenant check-in areas incorporate foliage motifs.
