In order to serve the growing needs of Houston’s underserved populations, Legacy Community Health tapped Perkins and Will (Houston) to design a state-of-the-art campus where it could provide expanded healthcare, education, and social services in a culturally appropriate and respectful environment.

The 33,500-square-foot building is expected to treat more than 100,000 patients annually and will include a retail pharmacy, adult literacy program, social services, urgent care, and clinics for pediatric, OB/GYN, behavioral health, and primary care.

For clinical efficiency and flexibility, the design team integrated a double-sided exam room model with a staff collaboration zone, as well as universal room design. The building’s exterior pays homage to its culturally diverse location with a bold color palette of bright turquoise, orange, and yellow hues that also serve as a nod to the healthcare organization’s logo. The clinic is slated to open in 2020.
