HK Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery, New York
Architecture firm NDNY Architecture + Design (New York) turned an 1,800-square-foot commercial office suite in Manhattan’s Flatiron District into a serene, hospitality-inspired dermatology clinic.
Opened in September 2024, the HK Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery clinic specializes in facial aesthetic surgery, eyelid surgery, face and body contouring, and laser medicine.
Drawing on the physician owner’s Scandinavian roots, the design embraces a minimalist palette with dark and light color hues, high-quality finishes including fluted solid surface panels, interior storefront systems, and stone cladding, and a clear, organized circulation.
Interior design, clinic planning strategies
Situated in a corner suite with views of Fifth Avenue, the reception area is strategically placed to capture natural light. Visitors enter through a private lobby defined by three black monolithic walls, which lead to a sunlit reception framed in custom solid-surface panels with brass accents. A continuous LED cove light traverses the space, linking public and patient areas and enhancing wayfinding.
Patient spaces, including four exam rooms, an operating room, and certified laboratory, occupy the south side of the clinic, with views to the street.
Doctor’s and staff offices are located on the opposite side of the clinic.
White finishes in patient and procedure rooms create a calming atmosphere, while custom millwork conceals medical equipment, achieving a seamless integration of form, function, and brand identity.
