Quinnipiac University Recreation + Wellness Center: The 55,000-square-foot scheme, an extension to the existing athletics building, is designed using principles of biophilia, drawing on the rich Connecticut landscape beyond and utilizing heavy timber, wood paneling, local stone, and interior green walls. For the massive glass portions of the façade, Buro Happold worked to minimize glare and incorporate automated motorized shades. MEP engineering for the electrical infrastructure supports a future rooftop solar array, further supporting the university’s sustainability aspirations. In respons to the pandemic, the HVAC system includes enhancements intended to increase air circulation.”
