Surrey Heart Centre, Surrey, British Columbia, Canada
To deliver the Surrey Heart Centre, in Surrey, British Columbia, owner Dr. Raj Hiralal and Space Harmony Interiors (Vancouver, British Columbia) collaborated to renovate two empty office shells in a newly built commercial tower into a modern, purpose-driven medical clinic.
Key design goals included improving the patient experience, increasing operational capacity, and creating a calming environment.
Opened in August 2024, the clinic features an interior palette inspired by the West Coast’s natural environment. For example, in the waiting area, interior design firm Space Harmony Interiors chose plush velvet seating in calming tones of sea-glass green and ocean blue. A monolithic marble reception desk provides a strong architectural anchor, while a suspended geometric light fixture and composition of layered glass and mirrors—embellished with golden and frosted leaves—interacts dynamically with natural light, creating a sense of movement and depth throughout the day.
The 2,000-square-foot layout comprises six exam rooms, a conference space, and kitchenette. A stress-test room is tucked discreetly behind the reception and acoustically shielded by a custom-built cabinetry wall, which doubles as both a sound barrier and a sleek visual feature.
