Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, Davis Building Phase III Jacksonville, FL
The third expansion phase of this building forms the base for significant future vertical growth. The first floor of the two-story addition has a new main entrance with a covered patient drop-off area, main reception/information desk, registration, and patient services and education center. The second floor includes clinical departments and patient waiting and administrative space.
Providing a reception desk with high visibility on all sides was a challenge when trying to create a seamless blend between existing and new construction. Critical to patient orientation, the desk is a key wayfinding icon and is easily identified from the main entrance, patient parking entrance, elevator lobby and registration desk.

Registration requires managing a high volume of people while continuing to maintain balance between patient comfort and privacy. The gracious curve of the desk provides direct vision to staff and eliminates confusion when patients are queued. Generous space between stations with wood and glass dividers creates privacy and allows staff visibility; sound-absorbent materials on ceilings, walls and floor work together to achieve these goals
.
High expectations of quality and service are reflected in the materials and products used throughout. Examples include wood trim to add warmth, exam sofas for comfort and “positive distraction” artwork.
We provided full-service architectural, engineering, landscape and interior design services for this project, including planning, selection and specification of finishes and furniture, and designing custom millwork.
