In Houston, the contractor coordinated the precise location of the MRI isocenter for each MRI unit and scan room, along with the required pathways for conduits located below the slab. The areas beneath each MRI have been excavated, with the intent to replace the existing concrete with a thicker, reinforced slab designed to support the MRI equipment loads. The new slab will be designed to resist both gravity loads and the uplift forces associated with the cantilevered MRI table as it slides back and forth through the magnet bore.
