Washington University School Of Medicine Completes Vertical Expansion In St. Louis

The $165 million addition to the Steven & Susan Lipstein BJC Institute of Health building includes 160,000 square feet of laboratory space.

Washington University School of Medicine (St. Louis) has completed a vertical expansion of the Steven & Susan Lipstein BJC Institute of Health building in St. Louis, according to a news release by Lawrence Group (St. Louis), the architect and landscape architect on the project.

The $165 million addition houses 160,000 square feet of laboratory space, including a 7,900-square-foot biosafety level, or high-containment, lab to support research on infectious viruses such as SARS-CoV-2 and tuberculosis.

The expansion also includes a 7,800-square-foot Biologic Therapy Core Facility for cellular therapies to treat cancer.
