Architecture and interior design firm Lawrence Group (St. Louis) completed the design of a new inpatient behavioral health unit at Sisters of Saint Mary (SSM) Health Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, according to a news release from the design firm.

The project renovated a 26,884-square-foot space on the fifth floor of the hospital’s Bordley Tower that formerly was utilized as inpatient medical/surgical and intensive care units.

The new behavioral health unit comprises four pods of 10-11 patient rooms each, supported by a shared staff core for staff breaks, refreshment, and workspaces.

Nurse stations are strategically located to offer expansive visibility across the four patient wings, which also include quiet rooms, consultation rooms, and medication stations.
