University Hospital At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Opens In Columbus, Ohio

The first patients have moved into the University Hospital at Ohio State University (OSU) Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, according to a news release.

The 1.9-million-square-foot, 26-story hospital marks the largest single-facility construction project ever undertaken at OSU, according to the release.

The 410-foot tower houses 820 private patient rooms, including 234 intensive care unit beds and 148 beds for patients of The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute, known as The James, OSU’s comprehensive cancer center.

Among the facility’s features are 10 interventional radiology suites for advanced imaging-guided procedures, a Level 4 maternity care hospital, and patient rooms measuring 349 square feet and featuring 9-foot windows and 75-inch digital screens that provide access to care team member information, telehealth and video conferencing, room controls, patient education, and entertainment.
