The new Oklahoma City Behavioral Health campus is set to open on a 13-acre site in southwest Oklahoma City, according to newsbreak.com.
The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health purchased an existing complex from SSM Health (St. Louis) and is renovating it in phases to serve as the state’s largest psychiatric hospital with up to 197 beds once all work is finished.
The first phase of the project has already begun, with 32 patients transferring from Griffin Memorial Hospital in Norman, Okla., to an annex building at the new campus. ODMHSAS expects to complete additional renovations and ultimately phase out Griffin Memorial by late 2026
