AIA Elevates 10 Healthcare Architects To College of Fellows

The honored architects represent organizations including Davis Partnership Architects, Studio Findley Design, HKS, Gensler, HOK, Hb+a Architects, Article 25, Beyer Binder Belle, Johns Hopkins Health System, and Marlon Blackwell Architects.

The American Institute of Architects (AIA; Washington, D.C) has elevated 78 architects to its College of Fellows, including 10 in the healthcare design industry.

Honorees must have at least 10 years of AIA membership and are selected for their contributions to the profession of architecture, including demonstrated influence in promoting aesthetic, scientific, and practical efficiency.

The newly elevated members working in healthcare and their AIA-component affiliations include:

  • Meryati Blackwell, principal and director of interiors, Marlon Blackwell Architects, Fayetteville, Ark. (AIA Arkansas)
  • Hafsa Burt, principal, Hb+a Architects, San Francisco (AIA California)
  • Jill S. Cavanaugh, partner, Beyer Binder Belle, Washington, D.C. (AIA Washington D.C.)
  • Dennis M. Findley, architect and president, Studio Findley Design, Boston (AIA Virginia)
  • Whitney K. Fuessel, regional practice director of health and partner, HKS, Houston (AIA Texas Society of Architects)
  • Joseph Lauro, managing director and principal, Gensler, New York (AIA New York State)
  • John Mark Neary, principal, façade practice leader, HOK, New York (AIA Connecticut)
