Hartford Hospital To Undergo $1B Expansion In Connecticut

The project will add a 14-story tower as owner Hartford HealthCare transforms the hospital into an academic medical center.

The Hartford HealthCare system (City, State) announced plans to transform its flagship hospital, Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Conn., into an academic medical center with a nearly $1 billion expansion according to a news release.

The project will add a 14-story patient tower with 216 private inpatient beds,

three floors of procedural space, a 2-story atrium with public amenities, new front entrance, and healing garden.

Additionally the project will expand and renovate the hospital’s existing emergency department (ED), including updating check-in, waiting, and triage spaces. New treatment beds and a medical observation unit will also be added.

The tower is expected to open in 2031.
