Royal Columbian Hospital has opened the Jim Pattison Acute Care Tower in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada, according to a news release.
The 10-story tower houses 388 private inpatient beds, including five floors of medical/surgical beds, an emergency department (ED) with 75 treatment spaces, a 47-bed intensive care unit (ICU), 17-bed cardiac ICU, neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), 48-bed obstetrics unit, and 17 new operating rooms (ORs).
The ED, medical/surgical units, ICU, cardiac ICU, and medical imaging department opened in the first of a two-stage process. The obstetrics unit, pediatric unit, NICU, operating rooms, interventional radiology and cardiology suites, and a cardiac surgery ICU are set to open in stage two this fall.
