Construction Begins On Helen And Jacob Shaham Academic Medical Center In Miami

The 163,000-square-foot facility is a collaboration between Florida International University and Baptist Health South Florida.

Baptist Health South Florida (Coral Gables, Fla.) and Florida International University (FIU; Miami) have started construction on the Helen and Jacob Shaham Academic Medical Center in Miami, according to a news release.

The $162 million project comprises a 7-story, 163,000-square-foot facility, which will house education, patient care, and dedicated learning spaces for medical students and residents. The facility will include a range of outpatient services, such as same-day surgery and diagnostic imaging, as well as an outpatient retail pharmacy.

Stantec (Miami) is serving as architect and designer on the project, as well as providing medical planning and sustainability consulting services. The project is expected to be completed in 2028.
