United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, W.Va., has opened an expanded respiratory unit with 28 AI-enhanced patient rooms, according to wdtv.com.
The $2 million project equips each room with nonrecording cameras that alert staff to high-risk behavior, allowing nurses to monitor patients remotely. Hospital officials say the technology may reduce overnight interruptions and help patients get more rest, according to the news report.
The rooms also feature digital whiteboards that sync directly with electronic medical records and will primarily serve patients receiving cardiovascular, respiratory and neurology care.
