Ballad Health (Johnson City, Tenn.) has broken ground on a $44 million hospital in Erwin, Tenn., according to Spectrum News.
The project comprises 10 inpatient beds, an emergency department, and outpatient services.
The new hospital replaces a facility that closed in 2024 after being damaged by Hurricane Helene. It is being constructed above the 500-year flood plain to improve its resilience to natural disasters.
The project is estimated to take 18 to 24 months to complete.
