Ballad Health (Johnson City, Tenn.) has completed the first phase of a $72 million emergency department (ED) expansion at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, Tenn., according to a news release.
Once complete, the multiphase project will add 13,000 square feet to the hospital, expanding capacity for pediatric, adult, and trauma programs, according to Ballad Health.
Phase one adds 27 new parking spaces, with phase two temporarily relocating a patient discharge suite to the back of the hospital.
The third and final phase of construction is expected to begin in 2027.
