Healthcare provider Mercy (Chesterfield, Miss.) and the Alice L. Walton Foundation (Bentonville, Ark.) have started construction on the Alice Walton School of Medicine (AWSOM) Whole Health Campus in Bentonville, according to a news release.
Located on more than 120 acres, the project comprises a 709,000-square-foot facility for specialty care, including orthopedics, gastroenterology, and neurology.
In addition, a 1.1 million-square-foot cancer care center and a 1 million-square-foot hospital are in development for the campus. The hospital is designed to house 250 inpatient beds and 40 operating rooms.
The specialty care facility is expected to open first, in 2029.
