Lyndon B. Johnson Tropical Medical Center Plans 40-Bed Hospital In American Samoa

The project will include an ICU, ED, and pharmacy.

Lyndon B. Johnson Tropical Medical Center in Faga’alu, American Samoa, is planning a new 40-bed hospital in Tafuna, American Samoa.

The $200 million project will include surgery beds, an intensive care unit (ICU), special services clinics, emergency department (ED), pharmacy, laboratory, and morgue, as well as space to house endoscopy, cardiology/radiology, oncology, and respiratory therapy services. Future plans include a 150-bed expansion.

The new hospital is expected to be completed in 2026.

AHL (Honolulu) will provide design, planning, interior design, and project management services on the project.
