Healthcare Design magazine’s editorial products strive to deliver fair, accurate, balanced, and trustworthy content tailored to the business needs of our audience. We are committed to showcasing diverse perspectives, upholding rigorous standards of expert verification, and prioritizing uncompromising editorial integrity.
Journalistic Ethics
We are committed to independent, impartial, and fair journalism. Every staff member and contributor is held to a high standard of honesty and transparency. Our journalists seek the truth and present a fair, accurate accounting of information as it is understood at the time of publication.
- The editorial staff is solely responsible for all coverage decisions. Advertisers, partners, and exhibitors do not receive preferential treatment or influence over editorial content.
- Articles feature a byline with the contributor’s name, brief bio, and contact information. Publication and updating dates are clearly noted. Some pieces include a tagline providing additional context on research or authorship.
- As a B2B media organization, our editors may participate in industry experiences facilitated by exhibitors, sponsors, or partners, including press trips, product reviews, and site visits. Any related benefits or relationships are disclosed at the article level. Participation supports informed coverage but does not influence editorial decisions or guarantee favorable coverage, editorial placement, or any specific outcome.
- Staff must notify their editor prior to accepting any facilitated experience. Failure to disclose a relevant relationship or facilitated experience will result in a mandatory correction, internal review, and appropriate disciplinary action.
- Examples of standard disclosures include:
- “The editor participated in a media trip facilitated by [Company/Exhibitor Name]. This relationship did not influence the editorial content of this article.”
- “[Brand Name] provided this product for review. Editorial coverage is independent and based solely on the editor’s assessment.”
- Staff and contributors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest relevant to their coverage areas.
- Factual errors are corrected transparently, and we make it easy for readers to bring errors to our attention.
Sourcing Standards
Our brands require the consistent use of authoritative and verifiable sources and our editors and contributors adhere to strict journalistic standards for article sourcing. To support the highest standards of industry reporting, our editorial guidelines include source recommendations by story type, helping ensure insights are backed by credible data and expert perspectives:
- Reporters must prioritize direct, primary sources. This includes verified expert interviews, official government data, and professional and academic studies.
- Sources are assumed to be on the record unless alternate arrangements are explicitly agreed upon in advance.
- We strongly discourage the use of unnamed sources. Anonymity is only permitted when a source faces genuine risk. In such cases, editors must provide clear context within the story explaining why the individual’s identity is protected.
- We clearly attribute all facts, quotes, and statistics to their original sources.
Accuracy and Corrections
We apply stringent fact-checking and editorial review processes. When errors occur, we address them promptly and transparently to maintain audience trust. Our standardized correction protocols include:
- When a factual error is identified, an editor will update the article. The correction will be clearly labeled and dated at the top or bottom of the piece, detailing what was changed. (Minor adjustments, such as spelling or job title updates, do not require a formal note).
- In the rare event of a severe ethical breach, such as plagiarism, we will issue a full retraction, remove the content, and publish an editor’s note explaining the decision.
- We use images obtained through licensed photo libraries, staff-created photography, and images provided by companies, organizations, or individuals. For images provided by third parties, our parent company image release form is used to obtain permission for publication and document any required credit or attribution information.
- If you believe we have published a factual error, please email Anne DiNardo, editor-in-chief and group director of content + editorial, design, at [email protected]. The editorial staff will investigate and take appropriate corrective action.
Advertising and Sponsored Content
Healthcare Design is committed to independent, impartial, fair journalism. Advertising funds our editorial products, but it does not influence our coverage. We maintain a rigorous division between editorial and advertising content.
- Advertisers may pay to publish content they produce. This content is generated outside of normal editorial channels and is prominently labeled as “Sponsored” by the paying entity.
- We occasionally publish content contributed by industry experts. These articles are solicited based on audience needs and editorial judgment, not financial compensation.
