Akron Children’s Hospital Opens Two New Pediatric Behavioral Health Centers In Ohio
Akron Children’s Hospital in Akron, Ohio, opened two Behavioral Health Centers, stand-alone facilities dedicated to pediatric behavioral health in Mansfield, Ohio, and one in Canton, Ohio.
Situated adjacent to Akron Children’s Mansfield Health Center, the 22,000-square-foot, $8.2 million Mansfield project comprises a range of services including outpatient therapy, medical management, and a partial-hospitalization program for youth aged 12-18 years, according to the website richlandsource.com.
The center houses nine interview rooms and a triage room.
The 12,711-square-foot Canton project houses space for behavioral health services, including therapy and intensive outpatient programs.
It includes a large, open day room which provides space for group education and features access to a furnished patio. The day room also contains two alcoves where individual patients can take a break while still being part of the larger group. Two smaller group rooms provide space for yoga, art, and expressive therapy.
Also included in the $7.5 million facility are 12 private interview rooms, two private assessment rooms, one day room, and an out-of-clinic work area that can accommodate 21 providers and support staff.
Both buildings were completed in July 2023.
Hasenstab Architects (Akron) provided architectural and interior design services for both projects.
