HDR (Omaha, Neb.) has been selected as the architect for the new Cancer Hospital of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Shaoxing, Zhejiang, China).

The 5 million-square-foot, 2,500-bed project will be divided into two phases that will include three centers of excellence, two general inpatient towers, a diagnostics and treatment podium, infectious disease center, research and education building, and administrative building.

The project will have a “healing harbor” theme inspired by its location in the water town of Shaoxing and the surrounding landscape.
