Global design firm HOK has promoted Karen S. Freeman to firmwide director of its healthcare practice, based in Atlanta, according to a news release.
A licensed architect and registered interior designer, Freeman brings more than 25 years of planning and design experience, with a focus on pediatrics and children’s subspecialty care. Throughout her career, she has led the delivery of 7.3 million square feet of healthcare space totaling more than $10 billion in construction costs.
Her recent projects include the Kenneth C. Griffin Cancer Research Building at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center in Miami and the Grady Health System Correll Pavilion in Atlanta.
Freeman had been serving as interim director and will continue as firmwide practice leader for HOK’s children’s health group.
