Nationwide Children’s Hospital (Columbus, Ohio), PrimaryOne Health (Columbus), and Columbus City Schools are adding health centers in two schools in Columbus, according to an article in The Columbus Dispatch.
The health centers will be based at Columbus North International and Fort Hayes high schools and will be funded through grants and other financing from the two healthcare systems.
The Columbus North International center will offer primary care, dental, behavioral health, substance use disorder, vision, and hearing services as well as general health screenings for students, staff, families, and community members. Construction is scheduled to begin this year and wrap up next spring.
The $1 million health center at Fort Hayes will offer primary care services as well as an on-site Nationwide Children’s clinic that will provide health services for students with physical and neurological disabilities. The center is scheduled to open in summer 2023.
Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Columbus City Schools operate 11 other school-based clinics through their partnership.
