Pennsylvania Hospital, the oldest hospital in the U.S., is marking its 275th anniversary with the opening of a new medical museum in Philadelphia, according to phillymag.com.
The museum is housed in the historic Pine Building, the site of the original hospital founded by Benjamin Franklin and physician Thomas Bond in 1751.
Eight galleries showcase the evolution of maternity care, behavioral health, outbreaks and epidemics, and modern medicine. The museum also features a medical library with 13,000 original texts and the nation’s first surgical amphitheater.
