Global architecture and design firm Perkins&Will (Chicago) has appointed Matthew Krissel as design director over its New York and Philadelphia studios, according to a news release.
Krissel brings more than two decades of experience as an architect and design leader on national and international projects. He joined Perkins&Will in 2024 as a design principal.
In his new role, he will lead design projects in both studios alongside Sommer Schauer, who was named principal and design director in 2025 after the firm acquired Architecture Plus Information (A+I; New York).
Together, Krissel and Schauer will lead multidisciplinary design strategy across a variety of sectors, including healthcare, business, education, and science and technology.
