Marcus Tower at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, which was slated to open late this summer, is on track to open almost four months early to help address the COVID-19 pandemic.

If needed, three intensive care unit (ICU) and acute nursing units on the 6th, 7th, and 8th floors of the 16-story tower will be made available, adding a total of 132 additional beds, including 64 designated as ICU beds. These units will house both COVID-19 positive patients and non-COVID-19 patients.

The rest of Marcus Tower is slated to open in August and will feature up to 408 beds, operating rooms, and cardiac labs as well as the Piedmont Heart Institute, a new Marcus Heart and Vascular Center, Samsky Invasive Cardiovascular Services Center, and Shaheen Auditorium.

The project management team includes HKS (architecture; Atlanta), Brasfield & Gorrie (contractor; Atlanta), and CBRE (investment/real estate; Los Angeles).
