Reston Hospital Center in Reston, Va., part of HCA Virginia Health System (Richmond, Va.), is planning a $20 million expansion of its surgery department.

The 22,000-square-foot project will include constructing four new, larger operating rooms (ORs) and modernizing existing suites.

The project, part of a $70 million capital investment and expansion plan, will allow for services including complex spine care, orthopedic care, and minimally invasive surgery across a range of surgical specialty areas such as bariatric, colorectal, general, hepatobiliary, gynecologic, thoracic, and urologic surgery.

The design phase on the project is expected to begin this summer.
