Shenandoah Medical Center has received certificate of need (CON) approval to begin construction on a nearly $20 million expansion and renovation project in Shenandoah, Iowa, according to Radio Iowa.
The first phase of the project will create new ambulance service space, with three additional ambulance bays and a training center for emergency medical technicians (EMTs). The relocation of the ambulance bays will also enable the hospital to expand its imaging department to accommodate a permanent MRI machine.
Other phases of the project will increase the hospital’s labor and delivery space and add a new pharmacy, inpatient rehabilitation area, and bariatric inpatient room.
