Tampa General Hospital  in Tampa, Fla., started construction on the Taneja Surgical, Neuroscience & Transplant Tower, according to the website tgh.org.

The 12-floor tower will house 144 patient beds, 32 operating rooms (OR), and an expanded intensive care unit (ICU). Space for education and training, emergency response, and sterile processing is also planned. Two floors will flex for future growth.

Services at the new tower will include surgery, neuroscience, and transplant services.

The 565,000-square-foot project will be adjacent to Tampa General’s main campus and is expected to open in 2027.
