Niswonger Children’s Hospital, part of Ballad Health (Johnson City, Tenn.), held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil an expanded neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in Johnson City, according to wjhl.com.

The $53 million project comprises a 2-story addition to the hospital that houses 48 private family rooms, specialized twin rooms, and a new milk lab for advanced nutrition.

The expansion is scheduled to open to patients this spring.
