Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS; Brantford, Ontario, Canada) is moving forward with plans to replace Brantford General Hospital in Brantford, according to The Brantford Expositor.

The project is targeting a 40 percent increase in patient beds, while transitioning to all private rooms. Plans also include growing emergency department (ED) capacity and intensive care unit (ICU) beds by one-third.

Additionally, the new hospital will house a birthing center with all private birthing and post-partum rooms, expanded stroke unit, surgical suite, indigenous healing center, and enhanced diagnostics.

The BCHS Board of Directors expects to review recommendations for a site location this spring. No construction timeline has been announced.
