Lee Health (Fort Myers, Fla.) held a topping-out ceremony to mark the placement of the final piece of vertical structural steel for its new Lee Health Fort Myers campus in Fort Myers, Fla., according to a news release from Flad Architects (Madison, Wis.; and Tampa), which serves as master planner on the project.

The nearly 660,000-square-foot project comprises a 535,000-square-foot, 5-story hospital and a 125,000-square-foot medical office building (MOB), as well as a 22,000-square-foot central energy plant.

The hospital will house 236 patient rooms, 42 emergency department (ED) beds, and 10 operating rooms (ORs). The MOB will include eight additional ORs and the hospital’s Musculoskeletal Institute.

The campus is designed for resilience against natural disasters and includes multiple on-site wells to ensure uninterrupted operations.
