Amid a rise in COVID-19 hospitalizations and fearing a possible hospital surge, a parking lot has been transformed into an alternate care site in Colton, Calif., according to an article in KTLA 5.

An alternate care site has been set up in Parking Lot 14 at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) (Colton). The project comprises a nursing unit, patient care areas with 32 beds, isolation pod, and command center for staff breaks.

The county is eyeing other sites near other county medical facilities, if needed. The alternate care sites will serve patients who have already been treated in a hospital and have significantly recovered, but still need care before being discharged.
