Chicago Convention Center Transformed Into Field Hospital Amid Coronavirus Pandemic
North America’s largest convention center, Chicago’s McCormick Place, is set to transform into a COVID-19 field hospital with 3,000 beds. Walsh Construction (Chicago) is leading the conversion, which is expected to be completed by the end of April.
Hundreds of additional temporary beds are also planned at other facilities in Chicago, including recently closed Sherman Hospital in Elgin, Ill.; MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island, Ill.; and Westlake Hospital in Melrose Park, Ill., according to an article in Crain’s Chicago Business.
