Electric aircraft manufacturer Joby Aviation’s (Santa Cruz, Calif) mega-tent alternate care site at Marina Airport (Monterey, Calif.) will no longer be used for a coronavirus surge, according to an article in Monterey Herald.

The manufacturer, which allowed the site to be set up to accommodate up to 350 acute care hospital beds and other related services, needs the facility back for its operations.

Instead, four local hospitals, including Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula (Monterey, Calif.), Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital (Salinas, Calif.), Natividad (Salinas, Calif.), and Mee Memorial (King City, Calif.), will provide up to 829 beds including 148 ICU bed, if needed.
