New Orleans Preps Convention Center For Overflow of Coronavirus Patients
The Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans is being transformed into a site for coronavirus patients who have been treated and need to be isolated, according to an article in Nola.com.
More than 1,100 beds are expected to be added to the convention center, which has more than 3 million square feet of halls and meeting rooms.
As New York begins converting the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center into a 2,000-bed hospital, Louisiana will use a similar plan developed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to convert the New Orleans convention center.
Construction firm Dynamic Construction Group LLC (Baton Rouge, La.) will build out the facility with pod-like structures to house individual patients.
